Everything you need to get the most out of Invoice Generator — a quick-start guide, common tasks, troubleshooting, and keyboard shortcuts.

Quick-start guide

Four steps to your first invoice. Most people finish in under a minute.

  1. Fill in your business details

Open the invoice generator and start with the Business section. Add your name or company, email, phone, address, website and (optionally) your tax number and logo.

  2. Add your client and line items

Move to the Customer section to add who you're billing. Then in Items, add your products or services with quantity and unit price — the subtotal updates as you type.

  3. Set tax, discount, currency and notes

In Invoice Details, pick your currency, set an invoice-level discount or shipping, and add per-item tax rates if needed. In Notes & Payment, add your bank or UPI details.

  4. Pick a template and download

Try the 10 templates by clicking the template chips above the preview. When you're happy, hit 'Download PDF' (or Print, or Copy share link) and you're done.

Common tasks

Change the currency

In the Invoice Details section, open the Currency dropdown. There are 20+ options. The symbol and number formatting update everywhere in the preview instantly.

Add tax (GST / VAT / sales tax)

Use the per-item Tax % field on each line item, or set a global tax rate at the invoice level. Tax labels are free text — type 'GST', 'VAT', 'Sales Tax', or 'CGST + SGST'.

Switch templates

Click any of the 10 template chips above the live preview. Your data is preserved across switches — try a few and pick the one that fits your brand.

Download as PDF

Click 'Download PDF' in the export toolbar. The PDF is generated entirely in your browser. If it doesn't start, check your download settings or use Print → Save as PDF.

Click 'Copy link' to save a read-only snapshot and copy a short invoicegenerators.co/i/... URL. Paste it into email, chat or SMS; recipients do not need an account.

Add a logo or signature

In the Business section, upload a logo (PNG, JPG or SVG). In the Notes & Payment section, upload a signature image. Both appear in the final document.

Troubleshooting

PDF doesn't download

Check that your browser isn't blocking downloads (look for a notification in the address bar). Try a different browser, or use the 'Print' button and choose 'Save as PDF' as the destination. Very large invoices with many line items can take a few seconds — wait for the spinner to finish.

My data didn't save

Make sure you're not in private/incognito mode (which discards storage on close). Check that your browser allows sites to use localStorage. If you cleared your browser data, your invoice is gone — we have no way to recover it because it was never on our servers.

A share link does not open

Create a fresh link with the current 'Copy link' button and make sure the whole invoicegenerators.co/i/... URL was pasted. Old encoded hash links are no longer generated or supported.

Numbers look wrong / rounding is off

Invoice Generator rounds to two decimals per line item. For mixed tax rates and percentage discounts, sub-cent rounding differences can appear. Verify the grand total manually before sending.
